When I was pregnant with Zoe, I had absolutely no inspiration for any projects. After she was born, I was flooded with ideas for her baby blanket. This is what I ended up with. Its backed with the same organic cotton velour that my son's is. So snuggly. This blanket took forever as there are hundreds and hundreds of little hand stitches, but I love the result.

Applique Safari

When my son was born I instantly began thinking of creating a blanket for him that would make him feel as special as my grandmother's quilt made me feel. Appliqueing safari animals turned out to be a good meditative activity for a new mom. Three years later, Caleb still sleeps under it every night.

Birthday Cake
This cake wasn't the prettiest ever as the creme-fraiche icing was a little too runny, but I think its my best tasting cake to date. The chocolate cake recipe is from David Lebovitz's Ready For Desserts. The icing recipe is from Farmer's Market Desserts.

My little lion
I went into the fabric store thinking that I was getting fabric for ears and, maybe, a tail. I was thinking simple and quick. My husband and son had a very different idea. But this was the first Halloween where Caleb, my son, really got to pick what he wanted to be and was aware of Trick-or-Treating. And, Look! Another zipper!

my first zipper
This was my first time putting in a zipper. Not bad, I think. I conquered a fear. This was my project for my first craft-pal exchange so I sent it off in the mail. I followed the pattern from Heather Ross's Weekend Sewing. I am very tempted to make one for myself.

chalkboard window
This was one of my first projects when we moved into our house in 2007 (although I don't think I completed this project until spring 2008). I was getting to know south Berkeley's salvage yards and picked up this window at Urban Ore for around $15.00. I scraped off the paint that was about to fall off and coated the panes of glass with magnetic paint and then chalkboard paint. Quite a pain in the ass since I should have primed the glass first, but I really like the final result.
This project was seen on Apartment Therapy.
